“I’m Not Leaving PDP” — Adeleke Quashes Defection Rumors in Strategic Meeting

Osun Governor declares commitment to PDP amid speculations, party leaders unite in strategic meeting

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating clearly that he has no plans to defect — now or in the future.

Speaking at a high-level closed-door meeting with party elders, state lawmakers, and federal representatives at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, Adeleke dismissed ongoing rumors about a possible move to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing them as politically motivated “fake news.”

“This is my party, and I remain in PDP. Ignore any fake news being spread by those intimidated by our performance,” Adeleke said.

The Thursday night meeting was convened to address internal party concerns and reinforce cohesion among party ranks. It was coordinated by the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, and had in attendance Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Egbedun, along with other top PDP figures.

Former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola addressed the gathering virtually, while Prof. Wale Oladipo, Chairman of the Imole Movement, stressed that PDP remains a true political home for anyone committed to Osun’s progress.

Veteran party leaders including Senator Oluwole Alabi and Hon. Lasun Yusuf hailed PDP’s impact on development and people-centered governance, noting that Adeleke’s administration has brought significant progress to Osun State.

Hon. Akanni Olohunwa, a member of the House of Representatives, praised Adeleke’s leadership and expressed confidence that the PDP would secure victories in upcoming electoral contests.

A communique signed by Hon. Sunday Bisi at the close of the meeting reiterated the party’s solidarity and full support for Governor Adeleke’s administration.
