ICPC arrests Obono-Obla

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested the suspended Chairman of the defunct Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP), Ekoi Obono-Obla.
Obono-Obla was arrest by operatives of the Commission on Friday, in Abuja.
He was in October 2019 declared wanted  by ICPC, for repeatedly failing to honour invitations sent to him.
The Commission, while investigating allegations of abuse of office, certificate forgery and fraud amongst others, had invited Obono-Obla for questioning but he refused to honour their invitation.
Obono-Oblah had maintained that he did nothing wrong and therefore had no questions to answer.
Confirming his arrest in a statement, the antigraft agency said it had kept surveillance on Obono-Oblah’s  movements and activities for some time.
It revealed that the former Chairman was arrested along Aso Drive opposite the Millennium Park Abuja on Friday afternoon.
He was thereafter taken to the Commission’s headquarters and run through custody protocols including medical profiling.
The ICPC says further investigation is being carried out to verify the allegations against the suspended SPIP chairman.
