Gunmen attack Ondo construction company, injure two

Gunmen have attacked a construction company, in Owo, Ondo State injuring two security men.

 In a tweet on Wednesday, the Ondo state police command said the injured have been taken to hospital where they are responding to treatment.

“Tonight, there was a shooting incident at Craneburg Construction Company, Owo.

“Policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to hospital and they are in stable condition.”

The company was said to have been attacked around 9:45 pm on Wednesday.

On his part, the Ondo State Commander of Amotekun Corps (the sub-regional security outfit in the southwest), Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the attack on Thursday.

He stated that the gunmen shot sporadically into the air and damaged the windshields of two earthmovers at the site.

“I am just leaving the scene now where I went to assess the situation and I realised that the two security men on ground were injured as the attackers shot into the air,” he said.

“They got the windscreen of the caterpillar of the construction company damaged and the injured men have been receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

“By the grace of God, the situation is under control and I urge everyone to go about their normal businesses as I am on my way back to the Technical College where the newly recruited Amotekun officers are undergoing training.”
