Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to eradicating banditry and enhancing grassroots security across the state.
The governor made this pledge on Friday during a condolence visit to Gobirawa village in Dutsinma Local Government Area, where a recent bandit attack led to the deaths of several innocent residents.
During the visit, Governor Radda expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and announced plans to collaborate more closely with local communities to bolster security.
“Upon receiving intelligence on the planned attack, security personnel were promptly deployed to Gobirawa. Unfortunately, the assailants struck shortly after the troops left the village,” Radda lamented.
As part of immediate measures, the governor instructed the Dutsinma Local Government Chairman to nominate five community representatives for an emergency strategy meeting with the state government aimed at strengthening local security arrangements and developing secondary defence mechanisms.
Radda also called on residents to remain vigilant and urged them to expose collaborators and informants who may be aiding bandits from within the community.
“We cannot win this war without the cooperation of the people. Identifying and exposing informants is vital,” he emphasized.
The governor was accompanied by the member representing Dutsinma in the State House of Assembly, Mohammad Khamis; Yandakan Katsina District Head, Sada Sada; Dutsinma Council Chairman, Kabir Shema, and several other local stakeholders.
Smart School Inspection in Charanci
In a separate development, Governor Radda inspected the ongoing construction of a special model secondary school (Smart School) in Charanci Local Government Area, one of three such projects initiated across the state’s senatorial zones.
He engaged with contractors on-site, stressing the importance of quality workmanship and timely project delivery. The governor also expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work at some locations.
“These Smart Schools are designed to give children from underprivileged backgrounds access to modern, quality education. Any delays are unacceptable,” Radda warned.
The Smart School initiative is part of the administration’s broader education reform agenda aimed at bridging the gap in access to learning and improving infrastructure across rural communities.
