Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has recovered from COVID-19, after 11 days in isolation.
Fayemi confirmed the development on his verified Twitter handle on Saturday.
“After 11 days in isolation, I received news that my COVID 19 repeat test came back negative.
“My sincere gratitude goes to God Almighty, my family, my medical team and all well wishers for the prayers and solidarity.
“We must continue to do all we can to tackle the pandemic,” the governor tweeted.
Shortly after Fayemi was infected with the coronavirus, his wife, Bisi Fayemi, family and members of the state cabinet also took the COVID-19 tests to determine their status.
On Monday, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, confirmed that the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Wale Fapohunda and some unnamed members of the state cabinet had also tested positive for the virus.
