103 persons were involved in motorcycle accidents between January and March this year, says Godwin Omiko, Gombe State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
Speaking at a one-day workshop organised by the FRSC for stakeholders in the state on Sunday, Omiko disclosed that seven persons died and 66 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the motor crashes.
He stated: “Between January and March 2019, 103 persons were involved in motorcycle accident; 66 people were injured and seven deaths were recorded.
“Twenty-five motorcycle and two tricycle accidents were recorded between April and June involving 177 people; 92 cases of injuries were recorded as well as five deaths; 43 motorcycles and four tricycles were involved.”
Omiko explained that in line with a federal government directive, the FRSC would enforcement driving licences for motorists, and motorcyclists, to help curb accidents.
