Gbajabiamila, Wase emerge House of Reps Speaker, Deputy

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila is the Speaker of the ninth House of Representatives.

The immediate past Majority Leader who was endorsed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged winner after getting 281 votes out of 358 votes cast.

He defeated his only contender, Umar Bago, who garnered 76 votes, while one vote was invalid.

Gbajabiamila, the longest-serving lawmaker in the House, represents Surulere constituency 1 of Lagos State.

Also, lawmaker representing Wase Federal Constituency in the House, Ahmed Wase, emerged the Deputy Speaker.

Wase emerged as unopposed as deputy speaker.

He was nominated by the All Progressives Congress member representing Jibia/Kaita Federal Constituency in Katsina State, Sada Soli Jibia, and the nomination was seconded by a Peoples Democratic Party member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency, Onofiok Akpan Luke.
