Gani Fawehinmi’s eldest son, Mohammed dies at 52


The eldest son of late human rights lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Mohammed Fawehinmi has died at the age of 52.
According to reports, he complained of difficulty in breathing on Wednesday morning after which he was taken to the General Hospital in the Gbagada area of Lagos State where he was confirmed dead.
Mohammed was born on February 21, 1969. He had his primary school at Kotun Memorial School, Surulere, Lagos and his secondary education at Federal Government College, Sokoto.
He was a graduate of Business Administration of the University of Lagos (1991), obtained an LLB degree from the University of Buckingham, England, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1998.
In 2003, Mohammed was involved in a car accident that affected his spinal cord and has been confined to a wheelchair since then.
Until his death, he was a social crusader who commented regularly on issues of human rights violation and the rule of law.
Also, he was the Head, Mohammed Fawehinmi’s Chambers, Director, Nigerian Law Publications Limited, Director, Books Industries Nigeria Limited and Director, Gani Fawehinmi Library & Gallery Limited.
Meanwhile, the family is yet to put out an official statement about his demise.
