Fuel Hike: NLC says no going back on planned protest

The Nigeria Labour Congress has said it will not go back on its planned nationwide protest on September 28, 2020, if the federal government refuses to revert the recent hike in prices of fuel and electricity tariff.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba condemned the timing of the increment advising the government to put the nation’s refineries into operations by revamping them.

He, however, warned that failure to meet the demands would compel workers to go ahead with their protest on the said date.

The federal government had earlier this month increased the ex-depot cost of fuel from N138 to N151, while the National Electricity regulatory commission enforced a hike of close to 100% in electricity tariff.
