Former Deputy Senate President, Mantu is dead

Former Deputy Senate President Ibrahim Mantu is dead.

According to family sources, Mantu died in a private hospital in Abuja on Tuesday morningafter falling ill nine days ago.

He was 72 years old at the time of his death.

The deceased was elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999 to represent Plateau Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

He became popular in the national politics scene after emerging as the Deputy Senate President in 1999, a position he held for eight years. He was also a member of the PDP Board of Trustees before his demise.

The former lawmaker is expected to be laid to rest later today in Abuja.
