Flood disaster: Niger delta reps call for immediate sack of minister


Federal Lawmakers from the country’s Niger Delta region have called for the sacking of Hajiya Farouk, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

The Lawmakers made the call in reaction to her alleged neglect of the entire region of the Niger Delta particularly Bayelsa state where the united nations have declared a disaster zone.

They described her action as divisive and punitive adding that her actions shows lack of experience, skills and capacity to handle such a specialized and highly Professional ministry

The lawmakers maintained that most oil companies in the region has been forced to declare force majeure due to the impact of the devastation caused by heavy flooding on the facilities which have hampered operations in the region.
