Within six months, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 59 suspected drug dealers and seized 236.7 kilograms of illegal drugs and psychotropic substances in Kebbi State.
State Commander of the agency, Suleiman Jadi, revealed this on Wednesday during a rally to mark the United Nations Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Birnin Kebbi.
“The command is fighting very hard to make sure that drug abuse and illicit trafficking is reduced to the barest minimum” Jadi said.
He further stated that the agency has secured the conviction of seven offenders within the same period, while other cases are still pending at the Federal High Court, Birnin Kebbi.
Jadi however noted that the NDLEA needs the collaboration of more stakeholders to help them progress more in the fight against drug abuse.
He said that the society should be thinking of an alternative approach to drug problems.
