FIFA shortlists Oshoala and Nchout for Women’s World Cup Goal of the Tournament


Three time African player of the year, Asisat Oshoala and Cameroon winger Ajara Nchout have been named among nominees for the best goal at the just concluded Fifa Women’s World Cup in France.

The Barcelona striker made a shortlist of 10 picked by the world football governing body, Fifa on Monday.

Oshoala’s goal sealed Nigeria’s 2-0 group stage win over South Korea, racing half the length of the field, dribblling past a defender, rounding the keeper and scoring from a tight angle.

For Nchout, her nominated goal was one of two impressive goals scored in the tournament.

The chosen goal was her injury-time winner to give Cameroon a 2-1 victory over New Zealand to reach the Last 16.

Votes on the FIFA website will determine the winner of the prize.
