Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed has revealed that the Federal government has created a N25bn youth fund as part of efforts to address the dissatisfaction of #EndSARS protesters and other youth-related issues in the country.
The minister made the revelation at a stakeholders’ meeting with the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Hadiza Balarabe in the state capital on Saturday.
According to Ahmed, the meeting was in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive with a view to addressing the youths agitations.
Ahmed thereafter added that the youth fund would be increased to N75bn within a period of three years, explaining that the fund aims at supporting youths to actualise their entrepreneurial aspirations as well as create job opportunities.
There have been public outrage in different parts of the country in the last few weeks as youths took to the streets to protest an end to police brutality as well as bad governance in the country.
