FG Begins Disbursement of ₦44,000 Arrears to Former NYSC Members
Thousands of ex-corps members receive long-awaited payment following upward review of monthly allowances.
The Federal Government has officially started the disbursement of ₦44,000 in arrears to former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), fulfilling a previously announced commitment linked to the recent adjustment in corps members’ monthly stipends.
This payout applies to corps members who concluded their service before the implementation of the new monthly allowance, which was increased from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 earlier in the year.
The move comes after weeks of anticipation from ex-corps members who had been promised compensation for the months before the policy took effect.
Recipients have begun confirming the payment through social media, with many expressing gratitude and sharing proof of the credit alerts.
“₦44k don land. NYSC no carry last. God bless Nigeria,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter), under the handle @pharmacist_shezzy.
Another ex-corps member, @ifeoluwa_X, wrote:
“Just got my alert. I almost deleted my NYSC account. Thank you FG.”
The payment rollout has triggered a wave of positive reactions online, with many viewing it as a sign of accountability from the federal government and renewed trust in public promises.
President Bola Tinubu’s administration had earlier committed to improving the welfare of Nigerian youth, and this payment is widely seen as a step toward fulfilling that agenda.
While the NYSC has yet to release an official statement confirming the number of beneficiaries, social media is already buzzing with messages of appreciation from ex-corps members nationwide.
This development follows growing calls for improved post-service support for Nigerian graduates and may signal a shift in how government policies impact the country’s youth population.
