FATHERS ON RAMPAGE!

Dear Soliloquy readers, it is with a heavy heart that I write this piece.Bizzare things are certainly happening! Who could have imagined that a father who witnessed the birth of his daughter, presumably assisted in nurturing her, will one day turn into a violator of the very girl he helped to bring into this world?

Stories abound of so many fathers, who defile their daughters, in Nigeria and other parts of the world. This incestuous act is often done right under the nose of the man’s wife or the girl’s mother, yet without her having any inclination of the disgusting act. Other times, the mother of the victim is long dead and the poor girl automatically becomes her father’s sex slave.

Most of these predators begin their offensive act as early as when the poor girl is a toddler, then, it progresses to her teenage years. Often times, the victim is cajoled, deceived or even threatened with death. One thing I find disturbing is the act of a father being sexually aroused by the vagina of a three months old baby or that of a seven year old, not to talk of it belonging to his daughter. What is so fascinating of your own daughter’s vagina that will make you commit incest with her? Do you think that you have the moral justification to inflict pain on others? Predator Father, are you saying that your daughter has no right to be happy, to grow up healthily: mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually?

No wonder the Bible says that ‘ because they refused to acknowledge God, he gave them up to a reprobate mind. Such men from all indications are mentally sick and should be checked into a mental asylum while made to face the wrath of the law. It suffices to say that most fathers hardly leave up to their responsibility as the spiritual heads of their homes; they do not conduct prayer sessions with their families or even pray for themselves. What is the essence of prayer? Prayer saves you not only from evil people but from temptations as well and such temptations are incest and the likes. Men should stop playing gods and sit up.

We; mothers should be extra vigilant, observant and highly intuitive, we should not be too trusting because experience has it that most times sex violators are often family members or people known to their victims. Mothers,  pay attention to details as tiny as they might be. Do not allow the future of your daughter to be bastardized. Do not waste time to report to the appropriate quarters, do not live in denial. Like they say, ‘prevention is better than cure’. God have mercy upon us.
