The remains of Nigeria’s former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Aisha Alhassan has been laid to rest at the Jekada-Fari Cemetery in Jalingo.
The corpse arrived Jalingo through Danbaba Suntai Airport at 5:15pm and was received by the deputy Governor Haruna Manu, family, friends and political associates.
A funeral prayer was offered for the repose of her soul at the Emir of Muri Palace, after which the internment was held.
Mama Taraba, as she was fondly called, died on Friday, May 7 at the age of 61 after battling an undisclosed ailment.
She was the flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the 2015 gubernatorial election in Taraba, which she eventually lost to Governor Darius Ishaku, and later pitched her tent with the United Democratic Party, UDP, where she contested to be governor of Taraba state in 2019 and lost for the second time.
She however decamped to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in September 2019.
