Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sworn in a Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution to look into cases of human rights abuses by members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
The seven-man panel chaired by Justice Doris Okuwobi of the Lagos State High Court was sworn in at the Lagos House, Marina On Monday.
The panel is to commence sitting immediately at the Head Office of the Lagos State Waterways Authority in Ikoyi.
Their responsibility includes the investigation of cases of rights violations by SARS officers and ensure the compensation of the victims.
It is to sit between 10 am and 4 pm daily.
