Ahead of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, a Non-Governmental Organization, Oxfam Nigeria has released its World Inequality Report where it revealed that the world’s ten richest men during the first two years of COVID-19 more than doubled their fortunes from $700 billion to $1.5trillion.Speaking virtually the Country Director of Oxfam Nigeria, Vincent Ahonsi recommended that government should increase taxes on the wealth of the richest while also investing the trillions realized from taxes on infrastructure. On his part, the Executive Director, Civil Society Legislative and Advocacy Centre warned that if inequality isn’t evened up, the much talked about Sustainable Development Goals will remain a pipe dream.
