The First Lady of Kano State, Hafsat Ganduje, has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged bribery and land fraud case reported by her son, Abdualzeez Ganduje.
According to reports, Ganduje had been invited to report to the EFCC’s Abuja headquarters on September 13 but she failed to honour the invitation.
Abdulazeez was said to have reported his mother to the anti-graft commission for corruptly using family power and status for personal enrichment.
In his petition, Abdulazeez, claimed he was approached by a property developer to facilitate the acquisition of some plots of land in Kano with some hundreds of thousands of US dollars as commission.
Abdulazeez said he paid the sum in dollars to his mother but three months later, the property developer discovered that the plots of land he had paid for had been allocated to other buyers and then requested for refund.
Abdulazeez said the mother refused to honour the request, straining the relationship between him and the developer.
The EFCC is however yet to release any statement on the arrest.
