Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has officially confirmed his intention to contest the 2020 governorship election in Edo state under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Ize-Iyamu who polled the second highest vote in the 2016 governorship election on Wednesday obtained his governorship nomination form on the platform of the APC.
He had previously contested under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where he lost to the current state Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Ize-Iyamu arrived the party national secretariat in Abuja to pick up the form, with his supporters, a few hours after he was endorsed by the Adams Oshiomhole-led faction of the APC.
The former Secretary to Edo State Government (SSG) emerged the candidate of the party on the night of Tuesday, May 26th, in Abuja through a consensus arrangement.
He will now slug it out at the primaries with Obaseki who is seeking a second term in office.
Meanwhile, Obaseki says he is confident of being re-elected as Edo state governor for a second term.
