Dozens killed in fresh Yellow Fever outbreak


A fresh outbreak of yellow fever has killed at least 29 people in Bauchi, Northeast Nigeria.

Rilwanu Mohammed, Chairman of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency announced the casualty figure on Thursday.

He says the virus was first detected in September.

Mohammed further revealed that  224 suspected cases have been reported since the outbreak with 29 related deaths confirmed.

He further explained that the virus was first detected in Alkaleri local council area, adding that efforts have since begun to contain its spread.
