in the wake of increased attacks by bandits and insurgents, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security in Nigeria.
National Chairman of the PDP Uche Secondus, made the appeal at a press conference while reacting to the open letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to incumbent president Buhari.
Secondus said the advice was necessary looking at the increasing cases of killing and kidnapping across the country.
He also condemned the killing of Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Reuben Fasoranti , leader of the Afenifere socio-cultural group.
The PDP head said the worsening security situation from April till date had made concerned patriotic leaders to voice out their concerns.
Former President Obasanjo in his letter criticized the Buhari led administration for failing to address the issues of insurgency, banditry and kidnapping across the country.
