Darey Art Alade and Wife Deola Lose Car to Fire on Third Mainland Bridge: “We’re Just Grateful to Be Alive”

Nigerian music star Darey Art Alade and his wife Deola are counting their blessings after narrowly escaping a frightening car fire on Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge on Friday.

The couple’s vehicle, a Range Rover, was completely engulfed in flames during the incident and ultimately reduced to ashes. Thankfully, no lives were lost.

Deola took to Instagram to share the terrifying experience, posting videos of the burning SUV and expressing deep gratitude that their driver escaped unharmed.

“It was a shocking and painful experience, but we’re incredibly thankful that the driver made it out safely,” she wrote. “No lives were lost, and that’s all that truly matters.”

Footage from the scene showed thick smoke billowing from the car’s engine as concerned bystanders attempted to assist. Firefighters eventually arrived and managed to extinguish the blaze, but the vehicle had already suffered total damage.

While visibly shaken, Deola used the incident to reflect on the deeper meaning of life and the insignificance of material possessions in the face of real danger.

“Moments like this remind us how quickly life can change,” she wrote. “We’re not sharing this for sympathy, but to remind someone out there—things can be replaced, but lives cannot.”

The couple’s calm and grounded response has drawn admiration from fans, with many praising them for focusing on what truly matters: safety, gratitude, and perspective.
