The Nigeria Customs Strike Force Team Zone ‘B’, in Kaduna says it has seized smuggled items within the quarter of the 2021 worth over N234m.
The Coordinator of the CGC’s Strike Force Zone ‘B’, Deputy Comptroller Oseni Olorukoba who disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday, said smugglers are threat to the nation’s economy but the agency would not allow them run down the economy and return the country to another recession.
The arrest according to Olorukoba was made as a result of credible information and intelligence gathered from various informants of the command.
He thereafter warned smugglers to relocate from the zone and appealed to the general public to assist with credible information that will help in the discharge of their duties effectively and efficiently.
Items intercepted to include 1,708 (50kg) bags of foreign parboiled rice, 1,419 cartons of foreign GIV soap, 255 sacks of foot wears and 57 cartons of sandals, 1,145 keg of 25litres vegetable oil, 271 bales of second hand clothings and 16 units of vehicles as means of conveyance.
Other seized items are; 157 packets of sex enhancer drugs, 307 cartons of spaghetti, macaroni couscous, 24 (50kg) bags of NPK fertilizer, 11 cartons of condensed milk, 20 cartons of milky cream, 42 cartons of Algerian dates, 3600 litres of petroleum products (PMS), 30000 litres of petroleum products (AGO) and 5, 349 pieces/4 cartons of unregistered drugs.
