Covid-19 Pandemic: Trump to halt immigration to US

US president, Donald Trump has announced plans to temporarily suspend immigration to the United States due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump in a tweet on Tuesday said the move would also protect American jobs. Although the state-imposed lockdowns to slow the virus have already left 22 million people in the US out of work.

The President, however, gave no further details about what the measure would entail, how it would be implemented or how long it would be in place.

The US has more than 787,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and more than 42,000 deaths, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University, which is tracking the pandemic globally.US
