COVID 19: Nigeria’s infection tally surges, as NCDC reports 444 new cases


Nigeria has continued to record a surge in covid 19 infections.

This comes as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), reported 444 new additional Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 174,759.

According to NCDC, the new infections were recorded in 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos, the epicenter of the pandemic in the Country topped the chart with 275 cases, followed by Rivers and Akwa Ibom with 63 and 62 cases respectively.

Others are:  Gombe (22), Ogun (8), and FCT (4), Edo (3), Imo (2), Kano (1), Nasarawa (1), Sokoto (1), Jigawa (1), and Ebonyi (1).

According to the agency, 32 persons recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries to 165,037.

The NCDC said 11 persons died from the infection bringing the number of fatalities to 2,160.
