COVID-19: Nigeria records 58 new cases, no death


Fifty- Eight new cases of COVID 19 infection has been added to Nigeria’s caseload.

According to data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, the new infections were recorded across six states of the federation and the federal capital territory (FCT).

Lagos State, the epicentre of the disease came first on the log with 35 infections. While the FCT and Edo State followed on the log with nine and five cases respectively.

Other state include: Delta (4), Kano (2), Rivers (2), Kaduna (1)

The agency further disclosed that the report reflects a backlog of 15 cases reported for Lagos state on January 7, and a backlog of six cases reported for FCT on February 7.

However, the new confirmed cases have increased the country’s infection toll to 253,838.

With no fatalities recorded, the country’s death toll still stands at 3,139 and 66 persons were discharged after recovering from the infection raising the number of recoveries to 230,211.
