COVID 19: Nigeria records 535 infections, highest in four months


For the first time in four months, Nigeria on Wednesday confirmed its highest daily infection of 535 covid cases.

This surge raises the nation’s positive samples to 172,263,

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, the new infections were reported from 18 states, Lagos led the chart with 219, followed by Akwa Ibom and Oyo with 142 and 47 cases respectively.

Others are: Jigawa (13), Edo (13), Bayelsa (11), Ekiti (11), Ondo (10], Osun (9), Plateau (8), Ogun (7), Kaduna (7) Kano (5), FCT (5), Imo (4), Gombe (4), and Nasarawa (3).

The health agency also reported 5 new casualties, bringing the country’s death tally to  2,139

Meanwhile, 43 persons were discharged on Wednesday, culminating in a total number of 164,886 recoveries.
