COVID-19: Nigeria records 40 new cases, infection tally rises to 167,732


Nigeria in the past 24 hours recorded 40 new cases as of July 2, 2021.

According to data obtained from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, the news infections raised the country’s case tally to 167,732.

Meanwhile, four states reported new infections. Lagos leads with 36 cases, followed by Rivers with 2 while Gombe and Kano both recorded one case each.

The NCDC added that there was no new death from the disease on Friday, meaning that the total fatality toll remains 2,121.

The public health agency further added that so far, a total of 164,369 patients have been discharged across hospitals and isolation centres in the country.
