COVID 19: NCDC reports 422 fresh infections, as case tally surges to 178,508.


Nigeria’s reported COVID 19 cases have seen a steady increase in the past few weeks.

The country on Monday recorded 422 fresh samples of the virus, raising the total infection tally to 178,508.

These new cases were reported from eight states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

According to the data provided by the agency, Lagos state recorded the highest number of cases with 190 new infections, followed by Rivers with 86 and Ogun with 85.

Other states that recorded fresh cases are Oyo (22), FCT (20), Kwara (7), Edo (5), Abia (4), and Bayelsa (3).

The NCDC said five persons died of the infection on Monday bringing the total number of fatalities to 2,192.

Also, 219 people were discharged on Monday after recovering from the infection.
