President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sum of N500bn as part of the COVID-19 crisis intervention fund.
The minister of finance, budget and national planning, Zainab Ahmed, had made the request for the approval of the fund by the leadership of the national assembly over the weekend.
The ministry is currently awaiting the approval of the national assembly where the fund is domiciled.
Ahmed explained that the decision to establish the crisis intervention fund to cushion the effect of the pandemic adding that the funds will be sourced from various special government accounts.
The crisis intervention fund is to be utilized to upgrade healthcare facilities and provide intervention to the states.
