COVID-19: Daystar suspends physical gathering in church, moves worship online


The Daystar Christian Centre has announced that from March 21st, its weekend services will now hold online, in compliance with the Lagos state government directive that public gathering for religious activities should not be more than 50 worshippers, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement released on Thursday, the church said there will be no physical gathering at its centres in “Oregun, Lekki, Ikorodu and Badagry” until further notice.

The statement reads in part, “From the weekend of March 21st, Daystar Christian Centre will not hold physical gathering for worshippers at any of our locations in Oregun, Lekki, Ikorodu and Badagry centres till further notice.

The Daystar experience will henceforth hold online on Saturdays (6pm), Sundays (7am, 8.45am, 10.30am, 12.15pm) and Wednesdays (6pm) only on these platforms:,,,, and the Daystar Mobile app (Android/iOS).”

The church also announced that the proposed launch of its Alimosho satellite centre this weekend has been put on hold, adding that a new date will be announced in due course.

In the statement, members of the church were urged to remain calm and observe recommended preventive measures like maintaining good hygiene and staying away from suspected/ infected persons.
