The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has struck out the case filed by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) against Minister of Information and Culture and National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
The Judge while describing the case as a mere exercise insisted that SERAP has no locua standi in the case as it is not a part of the matter.
SERAP had approached the court to stop the N5million fine imposed on some broadcast stations for infractions.
In the suit, the 262 litigants added Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and Armstrong Idachaba, the acting DG of NBC as defendants.
The litigants asked the court to declare as arbitrary, illegal, and unconstitutional the N3m fine each imposed on Channels, AIT and Arise TV for their coverage of the #EndSARS protests.
They also asked the court to stop the NBC from collecting the money.
