Court remands fake Army Corporal for theft

The Badagery Magistrate Court in Lagos has remanded one Shile Musa in prison for theft and falsely parading himself as an army official.

The court gave the order after Musa was arraigned before it on a two count charge bordering on theft and impersonation.

He was arraigned by the Lagos state Police command.

Counsel to the prosecutor, Akpan Nkem told the court that Musa committed the offences on July 4 around 7:45 p.m. at a restaurant in a Mammy Market at Ibereko, Badagry.

Nkem said the defendant stole a Tecno K7 phone worth N38, 000, owned by one Evelyn Augustine

“He also displayed himself as a Nigeria Army Coporal which he knew to be false.

“The offences contravene Sections 287 and 77 (B) of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015,” said the prosecutor.

Musa was thereafter read the charges filed against him to which he pleaded guilty.

The case judge after listening to the prosecution and the plea of the defendant ordered that Musa should be remanded in Police custody while the matter was adjourned   until July 15 for sentencing.
