Court orders EFCC to recall witnesses in N6.3bn Jang’s suit

Justice Daniel Longji of the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to recall all its witnesses in the case against Jonah Jang, former governor of Plateau State.

The anti-graft agency had arraigned Jang and a former cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Yusuf Pam, before the state High Court on a 12 count charge of alleged corruption and misappropriation of the state fund fraud to the tune of N6.3bn while he was governor between 2007 and 2015.

Delivering his ruling on Friday, Justice Longji ordered the EFCC to recall their witnesses for a fresh re-examination on the matter.

This comes after ruling on the fresh application by the anti-graft agency seeking to amend the earlier charges from counts 12 to 17.

Since the case began in March 2018, the EFCC had called a total of 12 prosecution witnesses.
