Court orders DSS to produce Igboho’s associates

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Department of State Service (DSS) to produce the 12 aides of popular Yoruba Nation Agigator, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho, who they arrested since the second of July, 2021.

12 of Igboho’s aides were arrested at his residence when the secret police raided his Ibadan apartment and they are expected to be in court on Thursday, 29th July.

Their case is expected to proceed regardless of the annual court vacation slated to begin on the 26th of July

The suspects through their counsel had earlier sued the DSS before the Federal High Court Abuja, on grounds that their fundamental human rights had been infringed claiming their arrest and subsequent detention were unlawful.

They had earlier sought an order of the court compelling the secret police to produce them before the court and justify why they shouldn’t be granted bail in accordance with the provision of section 32 of the criminal justice act 2015.

Counsel to the aides explained to the court that his clients have remained underground for the past 20 days, and have been denied freedom.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu in his ruling on the ex parte application before the court, ordered that the Department of State Service should produce the detained aides of Sunday Igboho in court on the next adjourned date.
