Court grants Okorocha five million Naira bail over 2.9 Billion Naira Fraud charges


A federal high court in Abuja has granted bail to former Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha,

Inyang Ekwo, the judge, granted him bail in the sum of N500 million and a surety in like sum.

Okorocha and his co-defendant, Anyim Nyerere, had on Monday, pleaded not guilty to allegations of stealing N2.9 billion public funds while in office.

The EFCC had, on May 24, besieged the Abuja home of the senator representing Imo west.

He was then arraigned on a 17-count charge of money laundering to which he pleaded not guilty on Monday.

Speaking with journalists at the endof the hearing, counsel to the defendant, Okay Amaechi said the former governor will meet the bail conditions.
