Coronavirus: NCDC boss on self isolation, not quarantined

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has dismissed rumours that its Director-General, Chikwe Ihekweazu has contracted the coronavirus, Covid-19.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the health body noted that Ihekweazu is only under self-quarantine for possible infection.

Ihekweazu reportedly went into self-quarantine after his return from China to Nigeria and will remain in quarantine in his house for 14 days.

This is coming hours after the Ministry of Health confirmed that the Chinese national recently quarantined in Lagos states has tested negative to Covid-19.

Meanwhile, President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan has asked the Ministry of Health to immediately step up a plan to create more isolation centres in all the states of the federation or at least make plans to have one in each of the six geopolitical zones.
