Communal clash leaves houses burnt, communities deserted in Anambra


Several houses have been burnt, and many have been injured, in a communal clash between Urum and Achala communities in the Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Residents have reportedly deserted the two communities as a result of the clash.

A leader of Urum community accused Acalla community for repeatedly attacking them, and blamed the state government for neglecting them during such attacks.

The Anambra state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, has confirmed the incident on Tuesday.

He also said the Commissioner of Police in the state, John Abang, had warned both communities to desist from such attacks.
