Chelle Aims to Strengthen Super Eagles Squad Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers in Unity Cup

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has stated that the upcoming Unity Cup will serve as a crucial opportunity to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, scheduled for September and October.
Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago will compete in the invitational tournament, which will take place later this month in London. All matches in the competition will be held at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford.
Chelle released his squad for the tournament on Wednesday, which includes several home-based players and fringe members of the team. The 47-year-old coach emphasized that the competition will allow him to experiment with players in various positions.
“We’re looking forward to participating in the Unity Cup, as it will give us the chance to try out new players in different roles,” Chelle explained to thenff.com. “It will also help us strengthen our squad ahead of the crucial matches in September and October.”
The Super Eagles are set to face their long-time rivals, Ghana, in their opening match of the Unity Cup on Tuesday, 27 May.
