Buhari bids farewell to Iranian Ambassador


President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded Nigeria’s relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing it as mutually beneficial.

The President said this on Friday when he received outgoing Iranian Ambassador, Morteza Rahimi Zarchi at the state House in Abuja.

In a statement released by his media aide, Femi Adesina, Buhari recalled visiting Iran as an Oil Minister in the 1970s, and as a civilian President, noting that Nigeria’s relationship with Iran has come a long way.

He wished the outgoing Ambassador greater successes in his future endeavours.

Ambassador Zarchi who has spent the last four years in Nigeria said his tour of duty was “very successful,” describing Nigeria as a “strong country in Africa” with bright prospects for the future.

He commended President Buhari for strides in the war against corruption, and revival of the economy.

On the fight against insurgency, the Ambassador said Iran had a lot of experiences to share with Nigeria and believed that the terror war would eventually be won.
