President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the recruitment of 5,000 personnel for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, says NDLEA Chairman, Muhammad Abdallah.
Speaking at the public destruction of drug exhibits by the Taraba State Command of the agency in Jalingo, Abdallah thanked president Buhari for assenting to the recruitment.
He said it would go a long way in improving the operations of the agency in the campaign against drug addiction in Nigeria.
Abdallah decried the increased consumption of illicit drugs among the youths in Taraba, describing it as worrisome.
He also appealed to families to live up to their responsibilities by cautioning their wards against the dangers of drug abuse.
According to Abdallah, effective drug prevention must involve the positive engagement of children, youths and adults with their families, schools, workplace and communities.
