Buhari appoints new NACA DG as Aliyu resigns


Less than 24 hours after Sani Aliyu, Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) resigned, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Gambo Gumel Aliyu as DG for a four-year tenure.

Permanent Secretary of General Services at the Office of the Secretary to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Olusegun Adekunle, made the announcement in a press statement on Wednesday.

He said the appointment of the new head of NACA was in line with the provision of Section 8, Sub-Section (4) of National Agency for the Control of Aids (Establishment) Act, 2007.

The appointment takes effect from June 26.
