BREAKING: Oyo Assembly Approves Bayo Lawal As Deputy Governor After after Olaniyan’s removal


The Oyo State House of Assembly on Monday has approved the appointment of Adebayo Lawal as the new Deputy Governor following the impeachment of Rauf Olaniyan.

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde in a letter to the lawmakers which was presented at the plenary nominated Lawal as replacement to Olaniyan.

Olaniyan had been impeached following the lawmakers’ consideration and the recommendation of the seven-man panel of inquiry set up by the Chief Judge, Munta Abimbola to investigate him over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Prior to his appointment, Lawal who hails from Kisi in Irepo Local Government area, was the Chairman of the State Housing Corporation, and had also served as the state Attorney-General.

The Speaker of the house, Adebo Ogundoyin had put the nomination to a voice vote, which went the ways of the “ayes”.
