Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Taskforce Team, Abulrasheed Maina, has been remanded in prison custody.
The remand order came from the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, barely 24 hours after Maina who is answering to a 12 count laundering charge, was arrested at Niger Republic and extradited back to the country by a joint effort of INTERPOL and the Nigerian Police.Force.
The former pension reform boss jumped bail since September 29 and refused to appear for continuation at his trial. Following his arrest, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, produced him as a defendant in court.
Recall that counsel to the defendant, Joe Gazama, filed an application to withdraw his appearance form the ongoing criminal trial.
