Fourteen Lawmakers at the Edo state house of assembly whose seats were earlier declared vacant have been sworn in at a private location.
The 14 lawmakers alongside three others who recently declared support for Osagie Ize-Iyamu claim to have impeached the Speaker of the House, Francis Okiye and his deputy Roland Asoro.
They have now sworn in Victor Edoror as the new speaker of the house while Emmanuel Agbaje was elected deputy speaker.
The lawmakers were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Earlier before the shocking impeachment, armed police officers took over the premises of the assembly following reports that the lawmakers were planning to impeach Governor Obaseki.
Meanwhile, the iconic legislative mace on top of the Assembly building has been brought down alongside the roof of the building as the state government begins an impromptu renovation of the complex.
