The Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Yekini Idiaye has been impeached.
The lawmaker representing Akoko-Edo Constituency I was impeached on Wednesday during a plenary session of the Assembly in Benin City.
Idiaye was immediately replaced with Hon. Roland Asoro, the member representing Orhionmwon II Constituency.
Before his impeachment, the former deputy speaker and four other members of the Assembly had pledged their support to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
