Boris Johnson, Fiancée welcome baby boy

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his fiancee Carrie Symonds have welcomed a baby boy.

A spokeswoman for the PM and his partner made the announcement on Wednesday morning.

The child was born at a London hospital, the spokesperson said, adding that mother and baby are doing very well.

Johnson had planned to take paternity leave but Downing Street said he would not be doing so at the moment.

Johnson, 55, and Symonds, 32, announced in March they were expecting a baby in “early summer”, after previously announcing their engagement late last year.

The baby is Symonds’ first child, while Johnson is known to have fathered five.

The Prime Minister had only returned to work on Monday, after a battle with coronavirus in March. He spent three nights in intensive care in early April, before his condition eventually improved.
