Benin Republic confirms first case of Coronavirus


The government of Benin Republic on Tuesday confirmed its first case of the Coronavirus in a man coming from neighbouring Burkina who recently visited Belgium.

Health minister Benjamin Hounkpatin said the man tested positive after arriving in Benin.

This makes Benin the 28th African country to confirm a case of the infection.

Numerous nations in sub-Saharan Africa have begun imposing entry restrictions or closing schools and banning public gatherings.
